Wine Tips
The Right Wine Glass
Wine glasses come in various sizes, types and made of different types of glass from decorative crystal to transparent glass. Wine glasses are made up by three parts: The Base, the Stem and the Bowl. The bowl is held to warm the wine usually for red wines, the stem is held to keep the wine cool used for white wine and the bowl holds the wine.
Wine glasses types are the result of years of research and wine studies that prove certain size glasses enhance the wine drinking experience and release the right aroma and also enhances the flavor of certain wines.
Summer is fast approaching and the time to start planning parties, get togethers, birthdays, graduations and those special occasions. We’ve put together some recipes to get you in the mood for the summer season with some tasty recipes for wine coolers made from Niagara Brew Club wines.
Here’s where you come in to to the process, when you’ve made an appointment to bottle your wine at Niagara Brew Club, the bottling is the final stage for you to then take your prize winning wine home to enjoy.
Bottling Your Wine:
Wine Making- Filtering the Wine -Step 4
After the wine sits for 4 to 6 weeks depending on the type of wine, the liquid is then filtered through a filtering pump.
Through the use of paper filters and the pump this will clarify the wine and remove the haze from the fermentation process and this results in a clean and clearer wine product.
Wine Making – Stabilizing The Wine Step 3
After one or two weeks the wine is checked with a hydrometer inserted in the container and wine is drawn to test the alcohol content.
When .990 is recorded on the hydrometer the wine is perfectly ready for the addition of potassium sorbate to stop the yeast from growing further.
Racking The Wine – Step 2
At this stage, the wine is one week old and it is then siphoned off to an airtight container for more developing and fermenting.
The airlock is placed in the new container, and the wine is then sitting for a few more weeks for the fermenting process to continue. Racking basically removes the solids that have settled at the bottom of the wine container.
